In 2009 he co-founded Critical Intelligence (acquired by iSIGHT Partners in 2015) to help organizations that own and operate electric generating stations, oil refineries, and water treatment plants understand threats to the industrial processes they operate. In August 2017 Sean joined Idaho State University’s College of Technology to develop technical professionals fluent in both industrial control and cyber security.

Sean’s work towards understanding the cyber threat environment for control systems has been featured in the popular press, in DOE-sponsored trainings, and presented to national and international audiences at conferences such as the SCADA Security Scientific Symposium (S4), the Industrial Control Systems Joint Working Group (ICSJWG), and the RSA Conference. Sean is a graduate of the NSF/NSA Cyber Corps program at Idaho State University, and earned a second masters degree from the Thunderbird School of Global Management.
